We are a spectacles company founded in King’s Cross, London in 2013. By combining traditional frame craft with modern methods, we hope to revive Britain’s long lost optical legacy. We’re passionate about spectacles, design and the customer experience.

SHOP VACANCIES

ASSISTANT MANAGER - CUBITTS COAL DROPS YARD, LONDON

We are in search of a full-time Assistant Manager to launch and co-run our exciting new site, Cubitts Coal Drops Yard. Located seconds from the newly regenerated Granary Square, the shop is set in railway arches steeped in the industrial history of King's Cross.

The role:

  • Supporting the Store Manager as the new shop launches, ensuring a seamless running of the business, helping to meet sales targets and customer experience standards
  • In the Manager’s absence, conduct all senior dispensing activities and be responsible for your team
  • To comfortably explain eye health, eyewear and prescription terminology to patients
  • Manage and work with our Optometrists and your team to provide impeccable lens and frame selection, fitting and customer service
  • Work alongside our glazing partners, excelling in lens selection
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout the store
  • Ensure company procedures are followed to protect inventory, assets and above all, colleague safety
  • Assist with initial and ongoing training development for all team members
  • Act as a representative for Cubitts, helping to educate and excite others about our mission and company story
  • Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge as well as accurately explaining features and benefits of various lenses and Cubitts frames
  • Assist with event planning and building relationships with the local community in order to drive revenue and brand awareness

Who you are:

  • You have a minimum of two year’s experience in an optical role, looking to further your expertise
  • A self-starter with plenty of energy, you’re a fast learner and outstanding at working under pressure
  • You thrive in a busy environment, enjoy responsibility and take pride in what you do
  • Have a genuine passion for spectacles, including their design and history
  • You’re highly organised, possessing meticulous attention to detail and a keen interest in aesthetics

This position is full-time, therefore you must be available to work for 40 hours per week, including weekend days.


SENIOR OPTICAL ASSOCIATE - CUBITTS COAL DROPS YARD, LONDON

We are in search of a full-time Senior Optical Associate to be based at our exciting new site, Cubitts Coal Drops Yard. Located seconds from the newly regenerated Granary Square and King's Cross station, originally built by the Cubitt brothers, the shop is surrounded by the industrial history that inspired our company.

The role:

  • Assisting in the early phases of the new shop, ensuring a seamless completion of daily tasks, and helping to meet our targets and customer experience goals
  • Lead by example to effectively manage sales, deal with enquiries, manage our patient booking system and offer impeccable customer service
  • To dispense our products to consistently high standards, excelling at fitting frames, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and giving expert style advice
  • To comfortably explain eye health, eyewear and prescription terminology to patients (full training will be given)
  • Ensure the retail environment is flawlessly run, including taking responsibility for visual merchandising and the in-store experience
  • To act as a representative for our brand to help educate and excite others about the Cubitts mission and company story

RETAIL ASSOCIATES - CUBITTS FITZROVIA & COAL DROPS YARD, LONDON

We are seeking enthusiastic Retail Associates (full-time or part-time) to join our fast-growing team as we unveil the latest additions to our existing five stores. An exciting and unique opportunity, you will be based at one of our upcoming locations: Cubitts Fitzrovia or Cubitts Coal Drops Yard.

The role:

  • Manage sales, deal with enquiries, book and assist eye tests, and offer impeccable customer service to everyone who enters the store
  • To dispense our products to consistently high standards, excelling at fitting frames, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and giving expert style advice
  • Ensure the retail environment is flawlessly run, including taking responsibility for visual merchandising and the in-store experience
  • To act as a representative for our brand to help educate and excite others about the Cubitts mission and company story
  • To comfortably explain eye health, eyewear and prescription terminology to patients (full training will be given)

  • Previous retail experience is essential, and optical experience a bonus, although genuine interest is most important

This is a part-time or full-time position. You must be available to work a minimum of 2 days a week as part-time or full-time at 40 hours per week, including availability on weekends.


RESIDENT OPTOMETRISTS - FULL-TIME AND WEEKENDS

We are seeking full-time and part-time Optometrists to be based in one of our six London practices. You will be providing outstanding clinical care, and the highest calibre of eye examinations to our patients.

Who you are:

  • Excellent under pressure and capable of juggling a diverse set of responsibilities

  • BSc (Hons) Optometry from a leading institution

HQ VACANCIES

SPECTACLE MAKING APPRENTICE - CUBITTS WORKSHOP, LONDON

The Production team are in search of a full-time Spectacle Making Apprentice, to be based at our Caledonian Road Workshop, Monday to Friday. This is a unique opportunity to join the only spectacle making workshop in Central London, using traditional frame craft with modern methods. This role will help our future plans as we build our capacity to make in-house and seek to become the finest spectacles company in the world.

The role:

  • To help create a new generation of spectacle makers and revive London's long lost optical legacy
  • Learn, execute and perfect over 50 integral stages in the spectacle making process under the tutelage of two master spectacle makers
  • Work seamlessly alongside our Product Designers, Glazers and Lab Technicians to deliver the highest quality handmade products
  • Repair any faults or issues with current stock
  • To responsibly and skillfully use workshop machinery; CNC machine, sand blasting machine, drills and laser engraving machine
  • To assist with spectacle making classes given to the public and our staff

Who you are:

  • A natural maker, you thrive on working with your hands and enjoy the creative process
  • You’re passionate about spectacles, their design components, and the Cubitts ethos towards form and function
  • You have practical knowledge and experience of repairing spectacles
  • You have an understanding of the different materials we use; quality acetate, sustainable buffalo horn and lightweight metals
  • You have a basic understanding of a CNC machine and how to keep it in good working order
  • You are outstanding at working under your own initiative and under pressure to see a project through to completion
  • You have an impeccable eye for detail and appreciate a well-made product
  • You love a new challenge and throwing your hand at pretty much anything

This position is full-time, therefore you must be available to work for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
