A frame made of wool

A frame made of wool
In 2017 we collaborated with British company SolidWool, a company that manufactures a beautiful, unique and sustainable composite material made from wool, to make a truly unique pair of spectacles.

The concept frames have now gone on display at the V&A Museum’s Fashioned from Nature exhibition, which opened this week and runs until 27th January 2019.

The spectacles are made from the discarded wool of the Herdwick sheep, traditionally considered too dense and wiry for clothing.

Now, combined with bio-resin, we have cut, milled, shaped and cured the material, to create a wearable pair of dashing spectacles. For the woolaphiles amongst you, we’ll be launching a very limited range of Cubitts x SolidWool frames later this year.
